During an exterior remodel, the highest priority is restoring the weather-resistant barrier. Yes, we want your home to look spectacular, but it also needs to protect you and your family. 


That is why we love the James Hardie Best Practice Manual. In order to comply with Hardie’s warranty, installation must follow the manual to a T, requiring the use of mount blocks around exterior penetrations including light fixtures, dryer and furnace vents, and electrical conduits. 


A mounting block serves as a barrier between the exterior and your home’s sheathing, aimed to eliminate water and air infiltration. At Burr Roofing, Siding, & Windows, we custom-make each mounting block out of PVC, allowing our crew to address any sized opening. 


We use PVC to complement the low-maintenance benefit of James Hardie fiber cement, installing products that will last for years to come, with little upkeep.


Once your project begins, our Operations Manager will work closely with you to create an electrical map, marking where each penetration is around the house. At this time, you have the option to add new lights, move existing fixtures, or completely get rid of anything you no longer want. 


Once the layout is finalized, our own electrician comes to make the necessary changes. He will remove all existing light fixtures and electrical conduits, after which the proper mount blocks will be cut and installed per Best Practices.
